What Is A Silicon Breast Implant

The silicon breast implant has grown to an all time popularity among women across the world. This relatively new medical wave has helped women restore their confidence after a mastectomy, correct breast size and shape as well as enhance the breasts to a larger size. While it may seem trivial to many people, they can not understand the anguish and emotional pain that these women suffer in the years prior to the procedure.

When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and is told that a breast must be removed it can be devastating. One would assume that after a short period of time, the woman may forget about the pain, but that is often not the case. The lack of one breast or both breasts is a common reminder of the disease and what she has lost at every encounter with the mirror. Her sex life and social life often suffers greatly. This is the reason that so many turn to breast implants to restore form to their body and normality to their lives.

For other women that have lost their shape or find that their breasts are sagging or drooping due to weight loss, breast-feeding, pregnancy or age want to correct the problem. Breast implants allow a physician to restore the normal shape of a woman by placing a small gel filled or saline filled sac, to restore the shape.

Others have fought all their life with small breasts and always wanted a larger chest. Today the advances have allowed breast implants to be a safe and effective procedure that can allow women the body that they have always desired.

Women have the choice between a silicon breast implant and a saline filled breast implant. The silicon breast implant gives a more natural or realistic look and is oftentimes hard to determine whether there is a breast implant or not. On the other hand the saline filled breast implant is more of a firm implant and does not allow compression and movement like the silicone implant. Both implants are placed very similarly with only a few differences. The silicon breast implant requires a larger incision, but is easily hidden by a good surgeon. Depending on the desires and needs of the woman, the surgeon will recommended which breast implant is right for their particular case.
